I have always said that “Nature is my church” even before I had started officiating weddings. When you’re in the forest or near a body of water, it only takes a few moments of stillness observing your surroundings and Nature starts to work its magic on you. It allows you be centered in the present; it helps you get in touch with yourself; it provides a serenity that was somehow always there, you just missed it in the business of your life.

And that is what makes a wedding a very special rite of passage. That sense of timelessness, a memory imprinted forever in your hearts and souls happens for every couple that seek the presence of Nature. You can always trust that Nature is there for you whether you are in a park, the wilderness, or your own back yard. And I think honoring and allowing Nature to be just as it is always makes a wedding lush and wondrous, without needing much extra fuss or decor. There are so many couples who somehow find themselves in Montana, ready for a romantic wedding adventure, but just don’t know where or how that will happen.

Fortunately, Montana has lots of amazing public lands open for recreation, and I know lots of little spots – and big ones! – that make a beautiful backdrop for your vows. Every place I find myself for a wedding is special, but a recent sunrise wedding on the Madison River was beyond expectations. As the sun came up over the mountains, there was a fog rising from the river, with rays of sunshine streaming through and purple mountains all around. You really can’t ask for more than that.

But to make it even better, this couple were absolutely glowing in love. They had driven up from Texas, just the two of them for a vacation, and wanted to get married on their trip. So many couples do! When they described what type of location they wanted – scenic, wild, intimate – I knew this would be the perfect place.

There was an etherial glow from the mist that was hovering above the river that morning just like the veil she wore over her face, and the groom lifted it as the sun began to warm up the riverbank. And when I said “I now pronounce you….husband and wife!!” they turned and looked at the mountains and river for a long silent moment, newly united, looking into their future. It’s one of the best moments of my job, so rewarding and satisfying, not only to see their dream of their wedding come true, but their dream of what is yet to come arrive before them.

Recommendations were super helpful and spot on. All of her planning and suggestions led to a perfect wedding! We’d choose Vicki again without hesitation! Thank you! ~ Zachary and Yahira.

I’ll admit, I got more than a little misty-eyed that morning, and it was fabulous. It is such a privilege to help couples find the right way to express their love, celebrate their journey and, yes, find an amazing location for it all to take place. I love to help sprinkle a little magic for my brides and grooms, and I always try to take a little bit of that amazing energy home with me. Thank you for including me in your wedding adventures!
